Top 5 Shops for Designers in Riga, Latvia

So today, I am going to talk about top 5 shops for designers in Riga, Latvia. It is part of my effort to list top shops for designers all around the world in each city. If you have any favourite then do not hesitate to share with me. So here goes the list:

1. Senā Klēts

The only shop in Latvia to specialise in authentic Latvian folk costumes also sells a wide variety of traditional souvenirs such as Baltic jewellery, ceramics, wool blankets, linen tablecloths and much more. So this one really fascinates me a lot since many items features have same symbols shown in article shared by me about old latvian cultural symbols

2. Open-Air Crafts Market Riga

If you you looking for bit of variety then do visit Open Air Crafts Market in Riga. This market is located between the Town Hall and the Egle summer terrace at the beginning of Kaļķu iela. It offers a huge selection of authentic, handmade Latvian crafts sold at a number of different stalls. Buy ceramics, jewellery, stained glass, linen, knitwear, fashion accessories, wooden items, glassware as well as plenty of more standard souvenirs like mugs, magnets and t-shirts.

3. Tornis

If you are mesmerized by old latvian cultural symbols and the way they are used in different designs then do visit this place. Ancient Baltic designs as well as modern pieces can all be found at the Tower. It also offers a small museum dedicated to Latvian jewellery which includes both replicas and original artefacts from 10th-century archaeological digs.

4. Art Nouveau Riga

If you are into art and design then put this on your list too. The only shop in Riga to exclusively sell art nouveau merchandise. Buy small plaster faces from Riga’s most famous facades, silk scarves with art nouveau designs, mugs, greeting cards, books and linens. Naturally, it’s located at the end of Alberta iela opposite the Riga Art Nouveau Museum.

5. Riija

Last but not the least, do visit Riija for design artifects. All of the linen clothing, felt slippers, ceramics and other nick-nacks sold at this upmarket design shop were created by Latvian artists and artisans and nearly all of the items come in varying shades of grey, beige and white. Definitely worth a look.
